Another great Amazon find, for the price it’s great! My partner loved it!

At first glance, this looks to be a very easy build. I struggled with this build, and even though it looks easy to build, it can be quite challenging in the latter parts of building Groot. There are a few stickers too (which I am not a fan of).
If you or someone you know, is a big Marvel and Guardians of the Galaxy fan, then this is a fantastic buy as it is value for money!

Easy to build, looks really smart.

I am Groot. I am Groot. I am Groot. I am Groot. I am Groot. I am Groot. I am Groot. I am Groot.
I am Groot. I am Groot. I am Groot. I am Groot. I am Groot. I am Groot. I am Groot. I am Groot.
I’m sorry, I couldn’t resist.
Look at him. Just look at him! Lego have more hits than misses, but we can safely say they’ve smashed it out of the park with this fantastic recreation of everyone’s favourite quattro-syllabic superhero. Lego have recently had a large drop of new sets, some of which are really quite high-profile but Groot had managed to go relatively under the radar. As soon as I saw him I knew two things. A) My wife would absolutely adore him. B) If I bought it for her then I might be able to sneak Optimus Prime in to the house as a diversion.
So that’s how Groot came to find a new home alongside the rest of the Guardians of the Hallway on our console table. I’ll let my wife pick up the review of her build experience:
Groot Build Time: 2 hrs 35mins
It’s in 3 main bags, with some smaller bags within each main bag. You need all the bags open within the main bag you’re working on. I initially didn’t open the smaller bags within the 1st bag, but then realised they were all needed immediately.
To start with I sorted each bag into shapes and colours. It adds time to the overall build but I find it makes the experience less frustrating.
1st you start by putting the back and sticker onto the plaque, and then you build the tape. You then move on to building Groot. Starting with the main body, that’s Bag 1 complete.
Bag 2 – legs, feet, arms and hands.
Bag 3 – the head. Half way through you get to see his character start to appear.
Just one tricky bit, trying to align an axle into a ball shaped piece, as you can’t see the cross bit of the axel, otherwise a straight forward, pleasant build.
What I’m left with is adorable. Groot looks wonderful once finished. He’s such a happy character and he’s already one of my favourite Lego builds alongside Wall-E and the VW T2 Campervan. Although a little unsteady he stands well on two feet. He doesn’t sit quite so comfortably but you can articulate him a little into poses. The addition of the audio tape is great, and the icing on the tape is the Infomation Plaque which just says “I am Groot”. And, I knew he’d write I am Groot over and over. Honestly, it’s like living with a child sometimes. But since he brought me Groot as a gift I won’t hold it against him. Groot is awesome!
Back to me (Craig). Over the years we’ve spent a lot of money on Lego, especially Star Wars and Creator Expert sets. I’ve not always felt that we’re getting real value for money as some sets can be completed extremely quickly However, with Groot, he really is worth the price. At a little under £50 at time of purchase it’s a relatively cheap set compared to some, but still a fair outlay as a toy. But as a display model Groot is one of my favourite Lego sets I’ve brought in a long time. I highly recommend him.
