Come and discover the monster lurking in the depths of Hogwarts.
Overall an amazing build and fun addition to the growing modular sets of Harry Potter, keep in mind the size as it comparable to the great hall build in height and if you are a MOC fan then this allows you as a parts pack to really set up a great underground display to supprt the great hall.
Parts value is pretty good, the basilisk is a decent upgrade on previous attempts but does not fit snugly in the chamber; the detailing is good and a nice selection of minifigures including a glow in the dark nearly headless Nick and the cowardly Lockheart.

Anyone that knows me would tell you I’m a huge Harry Potter fan, so obviously I was going to review the new sets for you guys and let me tell you…
The Chamber has been opened and built!! What a fun build it was! I think this is such a wonderful set with 11 cool minifigures including one of the new golden 20th Anniversary ones.
I really like the new modular system LEGO has done with this new wave of Potter sets, but I wish they fitted in with the older models a little better but more Hogwarts is better than no Hogwarts right? Likewise, I know technically it’s not more Hogwarts as we have another great hall, but I don’t think that is such a bad thing. The old 2018 Great Hall was stunning and a decent size and the one included in this set is a much more scales down hall which means it doesn’t stand out in a big way leaving it highly customizable witch is fantastic I’m thinking of either changing it into an extremely cluttered room of requirement with random things stacked to the ceiling or a room of requirement for Dumbledore’s Army to train. What do you think I should do?
The Chamber itself is very well-designed, but I do wish we had the line of snake head sculptures in front of the head of Salazar Slytherin, but I suppose you could easily add that in.
Minifigure line up…
Harry Potter — Comes with the sword of Gryffindor which was first seen in Harry Potter CMF Series 2, and I’m very happy to see that beautiful mold return.
Ginny Weasley — Nothing to new with Ginny but she does come with Tom Riddles Diary with a new sticker on the cover.
Tom Riddle — This is a very nice minifigure, but I’m not sure if it’s better than the one that appeared in one of the fairly new books. I think this Tom needed duel molded legs or at least side printing.
Colin Creevey — Very welcomed character into the LEGO Harry Potter universe, I love his big smile and his little camera build. He does have an alternative sad face, but I think he would have been better with his petrified face.
Justin Finch-Fletchley — Great minifigure but wrong face! He needs to be more grumpy
Luna Lovegood — Luna was a very questionable inclusion to this set as we didn’t see her until the 5th installment of the movies when this set is based on the second movie.
Gilderoy Lockhart — So nice to have another Lockhart, especially as before this set the only way you could get his character was in Diagon Alley. He is almost perfect, he just needs a cape.
Albus Dumbledore — I quite like this new Dumbledore as he has the purple robes which I believe to be a reference to the older sets.
Professor Sinistra — Yes!! Another teacher we don’t have absolutely perfect in my eyes! Well done LEGO.
Nearly Headless Nick — We last saw Nearly Headless Nick in the 2018 Great Hall and this time he’s completely glow in the dark!! Just amazing.

Got this on prime day for a cheap price for what is is. Box was a little dinged up if you care for that but still sealed. Really happy how it looks, all the different layers with the chamber at the bottom. Had a fun time building this!

Overall, this is an interesting set, with nice minifigures and many great rooms. I really like the Chamber of Secrets modules and the new basilisk, as well as Lockhart’s office and classroom. The modular nature makes it very flexible to customise, but it must be acknowledged that the constraints it imposes in terms of the sizes of each module, makes the set look less movie accurate than for example the Hogwarts sets released in the last three years.
I like that these anniversary sets cover many of the same scenes as the original series of sets. I also appreciate the classic look due to the return of the sand green roof.
The fact that this set differs in style from the previous years’ sets may detract some. I should say that the Technic holes on the sides should fit with the previous series, so you can combine them though you may want to swap the sand green roof with dark bluish grey pieces eventually.
I’m puzzled why they decided to include the Astronomy tower, given we had a full set featuring that just last year. It is great to finally get Professor Sinistra.
Another note is that some parts that have been used are clearly not made to be seen from all sides. It is annoying visually.
That said, it is still a good set, with lots of detail, nice new rooms, a great basilisk, Cornish pixies and an amazing selection of minifigures. And I enjoyed building it.
Amazon offered the best price so I am very happy to buy this set at the best price available. Thank you Amazon!

Please note it doesn’t match the older HP Lego series, but rather goes with the other 20th anniversary releases (i.e. series starting with 76, so NOT Whomping Willow etc). Rather, this colour and size match modules like Fluffy encounter and Polyjuice mistake. This however doesn’t bother me as I don’t have any of the older sets, so starting my collection now only!
As an adult I’m having a blast building this. I feel like I’m building chronologically through the Chamber of Secrets movie, where we are first introduced to Lockhart, the duel, and then at the end the Chamber! There is so much detail in every scene! I’m not sure of the ‘play’ value, given my age, but it’s perfect for a quiet evening in, reminiscing and display.
Pieces are in great condition, nothing missing and they lock together most satisfyingly. The price is a little dear but luckily I caught the end of the Summer sale 🙂
Only downside is that Hermione and Ron are missing! I get Hermione is petrified for half the movie, but by that logic Nick and Colin should not be there either. I guess I’ll have to buy another module that includes those 2 lovebirds. Choice of minifigures is a little strange. We haven’t met Luna yet in 2nd year and I personally don’t care for Justin FF (he has about one line in the film: “What are you playing at?”) Moaning Myrtle and Fawkes would have made more sense, but I don’t really mind either way.
